In a recently released list of Top-100 most influential people of India by The Indian Express, Uttarakhand’s Chief Minister (CM) Pushkar Singh Dhami was ranked 61. There are many reasons why CM Dhami got place in Top-100 in India. His ability to take tough decisions, fulfilling promises made to public, tightening of noose on all ill-doers through Uniform Civil Code, his action against Haldwani violence doers shows his strong leadership & will to maintain law & order condition in Uttarakhand. He showcased strong will & firm determination during the Silkyara tunnel rescue mission. He camped there & regularly talked to the trapped miners, while making arrangements to provide them food, water, oxygen. He also ensured all kinds of machinery, trained personnel to get them out. He followed these with bringing out some tough acts such as Anti-copying act to, acts against land mafia & mining mafia. The anti-copying act would ensure that papers of competitive exams for government jobs don’t get leaked & talented hard-working youngsters qualify those exams in a legal & righteous way. Act against land mafia will ensure that nobody is able to illegally occupy government land, while the act against mining mafia will ensure that natural resources of the state don’t get over-exploited & are used for Uttarakhand’s development only & not to fill the coffers of a few.
CM Dhami further showcased his mettle by introducing the Uniform Civil Code. By doing so, he will make Uttarakhand the 1st state across India to implement UCC. It will also set an example for other states to follow suite. The Uniform Civil Code will ensure that women are not cheated & left out without any kind of economical & financial support. It will ensure safety to women of muslim community who had to bear the brunt of talaq. It will also ensure that in case of talaq, the muslim husband will have to provide her money on monthly basis. In case of a child, he will also have to pay for the child’s expenses after talaq. This has made CM Dhami famous among muslim women. CM Pushkar Singh Dhami also showed his able management skills by successfully organising the G20 Summit’s sub-events in Rishikesh & Ramnagar. By doing so, he attracted the world’s attention to the natural beauty of Uttarakhand. He also showed that such big events can be organised in hilly areas of Uttarakhand, & all modern amenities will be provided to the visitors. He followed this with the successful organisation of Global Investors Summit 2023, that was aimed at attracting investments in Uttrakhand & providing lakhs of employment opportunities for the youth of Uttarakhand through private industries. He had set a challenging target of 2.5 lakh crore of investment that was easily achieved as Uttrakhand got 3.5 lakh crore of investments from national & international companies. This further boosted his graph upwards.
And recently the annual budget presented under CM Dhami’s leadership has won over the hearts of general public. Considerable amounts have been allotted for infrastructure development, transportation through rail-road-ropeways, for various schemes aimed at women empowerment, aid & pension for farmers, technical education for youth, and upgradation of health & medical facilities in rural & hilly areas of Uttarakhand. The budget is also aimed at sustained & eco-friendly development which has been liked by all. It focuses on setting up of solar plants from 15-25 KW that will be given upto 50% subsidy by the state government. At the same time, it will not only provide self-employment but will also help in making Uttarakhand a solar-powered, energy surplus producing state.
